The tool is particularly suited to users who are used to asking questions in natural language rather than keyword searches.
For example, it can answer basic questions such as ‘What are the exact dimensions of a 6210 bearing?’. as well as more complex queries such as ‘What is the difference between the 6210 and 6210 N types?’, providing customers with immediate technical support. to provide customers with immediate technical guidance.
The digital assistant, which was created by software engineers in conjunction with SKF application engineers, demonstrates an ability to understand and respond to enquiries about SKF products that goes beyond the usual large-scale language models.
It focuses on modelling human logic, making information searches using the SKF Product Assistant more efficient than traditional search engines.
SKF has now enabled this functionality on its English language websites in several key markets, including the UK, US, India and the Group’s official website. In the coming year, the company plans to further expand to non-English-speaking regions.
As part of SKF’s expanding digital services, SKF Product Assistant will also work in conjunction with other tools such as the SKF Product Selector, which assists users in selecting the right bearings, seals and other components.
